The idea for the ball came about as a group of friends were chatting about the possibility of organising a Christmas Event for both the locals and expat community of Bansko, Bulgaria.
And so, from a few ideas ‘The Bansko Ball 2014’ was created, with the chance to ‘do some good’ by raising funds for both a local and UK charity.
In 2016 and 2017, the chosen UK charity was YCT and the local charity was again Sunflower.
This year, the local mayor came to the ball and was impressed by the whole event.
Georgi Ikonomov, mayor of Bansko:
“Every year just before Christmas, the expat community in Bansko is organizing a Christmas Charity Ball. This year with their support, the room for activities in the daycare center in town for people with disabilities was equipped. Thank you for the support and care! Merry Christmas!”
Half of the monies raised went to Sunflower who support a local daycare centre and £1936 has been donated to Youth Cancer Trust.
